Delicious Eggless Waffles Recipe

In a bid to stay true to my mission of offering informative value for all my readers, I’ve endeavoured to try out an eggless waffles recipe, obviously targeting those who would often love to enjoy all the delicious recipes often shared, but unfortunately can’t due to something like food allergies. An egg allergy in particular really shouldn’t limit your gastronomic options, although egg is indeed used in many recipes.

In a recipe for quick-and-easy pancakes for example, the egg which is used largely as a binding agent is replaced with overripe bananas, something which actually adds a nice burst of unique flavour which is not ordinarily associated with pancakes.

This time however the focus switches to waffles – eggless waffles to be exact, because I can only imagine how somebody whose egg allergy is one which they developed over time must feel about not being able to enjoy what was likely one of their favourite treats.

So for this recipe it shouldn’t take you more than 20 minutes overall to make some delicious, eggless waffles, with five of those 20 minutes to be set aside for the preparation of the ingredients, while the actual prep time for the cooking of the waffles would then subsequently be no more than 15 minutes.


Self-raising flour – 2 cups

Baking soda – 1 teaspoon

Baking powder – 2 teaspoons

Sugar – 2/3 cup

Salt – pinch

Melted butter – 4 tablespoons

Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons

Buttermilk – 2 cups

Preparation instructions

Using a medium-sized bowl that will allow for comfortable handling and dextrous stirring, combine the dry ingredients, including the baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt with the flour and then stir the mixture with a whisk.

Now add in the wet ingredients, including the vanilla extract, butter and buttermilk, stirring until the mixture is smooth. Take extra care not to stir the mixture too much as this may result in waffles which are a bit too heavy once cooked.

Set the mix aside and let it rest for between 15 and 20 minutes at room temperature.

Preheat your waffle maker, taking special care to follow the preheating instructions as per the manufacturer, then pour in the waffle mix and let it cook in the waffle iron for between two and four minutes, or according to the manufacturer’s cooking instructions. Your discretion may be exercised and it’ll certainly develop as you make more and more use of your unit, so as per the manufacturer’s usage instructions, when it comes to the actual process and time of cooking, the recommendations are exactly that – guidelines to ensure you get the best results. High-quality waffle makers from suppliers such as however are so easy to use that you’ll have to have a special talent to mess up your waffles.

You might perhaps like your waffles a little extra crispy for example, in which case you may leave them in for a little longer, using your discretion of course.

Transfer the cooked waffles to an oven set at a heat of 90 degrees Celsius as this will keep them warmed up and fresh while you continue with the rest of the mix. This particular mix is enough to make about 10 waffles and if you need to keep some for later, waffles can be kept fresh in the freezer for a period of up to 2-3 months.
