When you spend a lot of time at home, whether you’re chasing after kids or you simply work from home, you may want to dress down a bit and be a little more relaxed in your wardrobe. There is nothing wrong with that. However, you also want to be prepared for unexpected guests.
Correspondingly, when working from home, it is even more crucial to present yourself well. Your boss may schedule a number of meetings for you to attend. Your home office may be set up with cozy office furniture that you purchased from an online retailer like office monster so that you have a designated area to work from. However, consider how everything else, right from furniture to your room, looks put together, except you, during the official meeting. That doesn’t sound good, right?
That is why, you shouldn’t spend all day running around in your robe. And, if you have a dog you need to walk outside with you definitely want to wear something other than pajamas when you head outside, but you also don’t need to be fully dressed, per say. Here are some tips for dressing more comfortably at home, and still be prepared for the unexpected.
Ladies, Put On A Bra (If You Require One)
Okay, not all ladies wear bras, and that is your prerogative. But, if you are a woman that normally wears a bra and you feel uncomfortable around strangers, or friends, without one on, make sure you put one on when you wake up. You never know who might knock on the front door. It just gives you a sense of security.
It’s kind of like putting on your makeup. Since you are at home you don’t really need makeup on, unless you have a Skype meeting coming up, but if you feel more secure and motivated when you have makeup on and look like you are ready to head out the front door then maybe you should do it when you are working from home.
Pants Or Shorts, Weather Is The Judge
If it’s warm out, wear shorts. If it’s cold out, wear pants. The type of pants you wear is up to you. If you feel most comfortable in jeans, lounge pants, or you’d rather wear a skirt, it is all up to you. You can find some really comfortable pants to wear that make it so you are ready to get out of the house if need be.
Factor In Comfort
If you are chasing the kids around you want to be wearing something that you can move in. You want something stretchy and flowing. You also want to make sure that it can withstand the dirt, food, paint, and grime that come with children.
You also want a comfortable top to wear. If you have an online video chat meeting, or have a work video to make, you may want to throw on something a little fancier, but unless you need to tape your full body you can keep on your lounge pants or cut off shorts and not even worry about it.
Since you’re at home, no matter what it is you are doing there, it just makes sense to be comfortable. You can be comfy and look great too though. Just think of how you’d want to be seen if someone showed up unannounced at your door!
